Legendary Linda Lovelace was the most famous porn star of her day. During the 1970s, she became the first woman in the adult film business to be mentioned on Network TV via Johnny Carson’s monologue on The Tonight Show (1962-1992). But before she became a household name, Linda was a Bronx babe possessing a willowy beauty and a husband who pushed her into porn. She rose like the sun of sin per her anatomically-impressive performance in the hugely successful skin flick Deep Throat (1972). As a sexually dissatisfied housewife who finds her clitoris has been embedded in the lower ranges of her esophagus, Linda exhibited a circus-like ability to swallow immense flesh swords. Her infamy was sealed in 1972 when the pseudonym “Deep Throat” was given to the secret informant who helped Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein link President Richard Nixon to the Watergate scandal—facts that were referenced in the film All The President’s Men (1976) and the parody Dick (1999) starring Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams. Playing off politics as well as her vast celebrity, the porn performer bared her three Bs in Linda Lovelace for President (1975). Before she died in 2002, Linda penned her autobiography “Ordeal” and became an anti-pornography spokeswoman. In 2005, footage of the ex-actress in X-rated action could be seen in the adult documentaries Midnight Blue and Inside Deep Throat. By 2013, Amanda Seyfried starred in the biopic Lovelace to immortalize the erotic icon.
